Causes of excessive dandruff tend to be connected to chronic scalp problems brought about by the excessive flaking of the scalp’s dead skin. For instance, during the winter, the air is cold and dry. This can bring about dandruff or make it worse. UV light exposure or excessive dust can be other excessive dandruff causes and could lead to dandruff development, as well, if the case isn’t there yet.
All in all, poor nutrition and a poor diet can play roles in the causes of excessive dandruff, too. It is more specifically suspected that zinc deficiencies can make people more vulnerable to develop dandruff.
