This Friday, Sept. 17, Transportation Alternatives, the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn partnership, and Architecture for Humanity NY will host a dinner party in a parking area under the BQE near the corner of Washington Avenue and Park Avenue. The event is part of global initiative to reclaim parking spots for alternative community uses.
Local residents are encouraged to attend and bring a dish to pass and a musical instrument or game to play. The large communal dinner table will be made from recycled wooden pallets from the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
The dinner runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Celebrate Park(ing) Day is part of an effort to generate new ideas for community spaces that are greener, cleaner, safer and more active than parking spaces
