The Chabad House of Dallas celebrated its annual community menorah lighting at the Galleria in Dallas Texas. There was a good crowd on hand for the first night from the very young to the not as young. A large menorah was lit along with a smaller traditional menorah. It was a true community event.
There was singing and dancing provided by the Akiva Academy Choir. The kids sang traditional Chanukah songs. Doughnuts were available for the kids only so I had to rely on the Galleria Starbucks for my doughnut fix. But it was a fun way to celebrate the first night of Chanukah.
The impressive Chanukah menorah is 15 feet high. According to the Chabad House display, the menorah was constructed and designed by Okon Metals Inc. Powder-coating was supplied by USA Shade and Fabric Structures.
There is still time to check out the menorah. Rabbi Dubrawsky of Chabad of Dallas will light a candle for each night at 5:00 P.M. The display is on the first level near the guest reception area. Macy’s is the largest department store near the display.
