Celine Dion has put a lot on the line and a lot of her life on hold through the years to be a mother. Her great success on stage and multiplied millions in record sales pale in comparison to her desire for motherhood, and she has been very willing to share her own struggles for a greater purpose. “If I help people through my voice, through my interviews, through what I go through, I do not want to change at all. I think it’s making a difference,” she relates. Well, another dream was realized yesterday for Celine and husband, Rene Angelil, as they lovingly greeted two five-pound wonder boys to their world! Rene gushed, “When I cut the cord, it was instant love!” to gathered media throngs at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL. Dion had just been hospitalized last week as a precaution to ensure safe delivery of the boys.
No names have been announced, and hospital staff report only that the singer “is resting now, and will be discussing names once she wakes up.” Celine was 34 weeks pregnant at the time of the cesarean delivery, and her doctors, Ronald Ackerman and Ruel Stoessel, describe the procedure as “smooth” despite the slight prematurity.
“This is a joyous moment,” beams papa Rene. The new arrivals make three for the family, who already have 9-year-old Rene Charles ready to take on big brotherhood at home. Dion said earlier this year she would be returning to Las Vegas again for a three-year run at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. She had a hugely successful run at the same venue that closed in 2007. No doubt nannies will be in tow this time!
