I just recently moved from Minnesota to Tennessee. With the climate change, my skin care routine is changing as well. Not so much a complete overhaul as a tweaking of my beauty regime, it is more like the swaps needed for the different seasons back “Up North”. I wanted to share these tips with other women that are facing a cross country move. You may be surprised to learn that changes in your skin care routine can also be necessary if you simply move to a different location if the environment is different, like from an urban city to the country or vice versus.
The Moisture of the Air Matters
As winter neared in Minnesota, I would buy a more moisture rich lotion to combat the dryness. Here in Tennessee, it still gets cold but not as much. Also, we are right on the edge of the Gulf Stream, so the air is always a little more damp. So sticking to my regular moisturizer has worked so far. Now, if I relocated to say, Arizona, the air being dryer may make my skin still need that deeper moisturizer even though the temperatures are greater there. When changing your climate, look into the humidity average to determine if your lotion needs to be more intense or lighter.
The Roads Around Your Home Determine Your Cleansing Needs
I lived in the country in Minnesota, right off a dirt road with a dirt driveway. This meant that I had to wash my face more times throughout the day if I worked outside. The dust from cars going by would leave a gritty feeling if I did not. I chose very gentle facial soaps or a wash to do this. Using a deep cleaning one all of the time would make my skin end up feeling dry. I saved the deep cleaning for my nighttime beauty regime.
The Scenery Around Your House Plays a Part
Moving from a country home into a larger city gives you more options in nearby places to go. These places can also cause you to change your skin care routine, even if the climate is the same. Pollutants released from factories and additional traffic can cause a need for a deeper cleanser. Moving from an urban home to a farm usually means less of these irritations but the wind can be greater with nothing to block it. You may need an additional layer of moisture protection from the drying effects of this as well as the unblocked sun’s rays.
Your New Lifestyle Can Also Affect Your Beauty Regime
Whether the move is a good one, a fresh start, a chance at something entirely new or a nerve-wracking experience, it will affect your lifestyle in some ways. It is important to know that your diet, your emotional wellbeing and your physical health all play a part in determining your skin care needs. The healthier you eat, the happier you are and the better you feel can literally make you more beautiful from the inside out. If your climate change helps you change your lifestyle for the better, you may find you need less in the terms of actual products for your skin care routine. A natural healthy glow is better than any that you could find in a bottle!
