Hello friends! Thanksgiving Day is just around the corner. Since I have so much to be thankful for, I decided today would be the perfect time for a chat with all of you. It’s been quite awhile since our last chat. Get a cup of tea and let’s sit down for a visit. What blessings are you thankful for this Thanksgiving Day?
At the top of my list of Thanksgiving Day blessings is my family. I have a loving, thoughtful husband of 39 years. I am thankful for the good times and the rough times that we have shared through the years. I am thankful that we are still in love and best friends with each other. My two grown sons and their families give me great joy. Sharing time, playing, and just being with my five grandsons is such a gift! The love and laughter that these five boys give me is so precious. I am thankful for my wonderful mother, my three sisters and their families, and all of my friends. Life is good when surrounded by a circle of family and friends that love and support one another.
I am thankful that my husband is off to deer camp in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan this weekend. On Friday, he drove eight hours to deer camp with his old high school buddies – without his gun. He isn’t going to hunt because he has to come home on opening day. He went to be with old friends who were in high school with him over 40 years ago. His four days at deer camp will give them a time to reconnect and keep their friendships alive. Why am I thankful he’s gone? No, not because he’s out of my hair for a few days! I’m thankful that he can be with these guys to share old memories and make new memories. The older we get, the more blessed we are to be able to spend time with old friends. We never know when one of us will be gone from this earth.
I am thankful for: a comfortable home that I love; plentiful food; enough money to pay the bills; my little dog, Lily, who is my loyal buddy; a job that I love even when it is tough (driving a school bus can often be a challenge); happiness with my life; the chance to travel to see our world. I am thankful to live in a small town where people help each other when it’s needed; for an outstanding school system for our children; to live in a free country; for a loving God who gives me these blessings and many more!
I am thankful to finally have a fire on my profile page. I was so surprised to see the Hot 500 flames on my profile page this morning. I haven’t looked at my profile page in a while so it’s probably been there for a few days. My Halloween articles must have caused the fire. One article that I wrote last year accumulated almost 10,000 page views in October! The fire will probably be out by December, but I’ll enjoy it while it’s there.
Charlotte Kuchinsky has announced her “Most Intriguing AC Writers for 2010” winners. I am thankful to have been chosen “Most Intriguing AC Arts & Crafts Writer for 2010!” I feel so honored because this win came from my fellow AC contributors. Never in my life have I been considered ‘most intriguing’ anything! Crystal Ray and Thomas Trager received Honorable Mention in this category. You know, my AC friends have surprised me with their support and encouragement right from my first day here. I am thankful to have found the caring community of writers that make up Associated Content of Yahoo! Their friendships are an unexpected blessing that I treasure.
I hope that all of you have a very Happy Thanksgiving Day. May you enjoy sharing the day with your loved ones, reflecting on the blessings that you are thankful for this year.
