The rested Chicago Bears head up North to Toronto, Canada, to take on the Buffalo Bills November 7th as Buffalo attempts to get off the snide for the 2010 NFL season. The Chicago Bears defense still ranks among the best in the NFL but their offense is still stagnant with Jay Cutler running for his life on every play due to a weak offensive line. The Buffalo Bills have shown signs of life recently but their defense has been letting them down late in games.
Buffalo Bills Offense vs Chicago Bears Defense
Ryan Fitzpatrick has been the hot hand for the Buffalo Bills and the running game is still a potential strong suit of this offense. Fitzpatrick fell just short of beating the Kansas City Chiefs in their overtime game. Fitzpatrick threw a critical interception to give the Kansas City Chiefs one last chance. Fitzpatrick actually led what could have been the game winning drive but Lindell’s first game winning field goal was negated by a time out.
The Chicago Bears defense is still ranked second or third in the NFL depending on which statistics are used. Julius Peppers could be the dominant force in this game with a weeks worth of rest. Peppers can take over a game when he wants to and if can get pressure from the outside it will give Chicago Bears linebackers, Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs freedom to blitz or drop back in pass coverage. The Chicago Bears defense has the edge over the Buffalo Bills offense.
Chicago Bears Offense vs Buffalo Bills Defense
Jay Cutler is a solid quarterback but if the Chicago Bears have not addressed their offensive line issues, it will be a long day for Cutler. The Chicago Bears must take advantage of the Buffalo BIlls weak run defense by running the ball with Matt Forte first and then go to the air. This is unlikely to happen with Mike Martz running the offense and it could be the Chicago Bears downfall.
The Buffalo Bills defense is solid against the pass but they give up more run yardage than any team in the NFL This may not be an issue against a Chicago Bears offense that refuses to make an effort to run the ball. Look for the Buffalo Bills defense to bring blitz pressure against the Chicago Bears Jay Cutler. Cutler will be uncomfortable in the pocket heading into this game and pressure will create more problems for him. The Buffalo Bills defense has the edge over the Chicago Bears offense.
