Christina Hendricks has been a paparazzi and red carpet photo favorite since she burst onto the Hollywood scene via “Mad Men” and its critical success in 2007. The 2010 Emmy Awards season honored “Mad Men” with 17 nominations, including one for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Christina Hendricks. Although she didn’t take home the Emmy (the 2010 Supporting Actress in a Drama Emmy Award went to Archie Panjabi of “The Good Wife”), she certainly took home the most talked about presentation of the night — her breasts.
The Internet has been on fire about Christina Hendricks, her breasts, and her built-for-display dress — and searches for photos thereof — since Sunday evening’s 2010 Emmy Awards show. And with all the buzz, of course everyone wants to see a photo. Elizabeth Snead nominated Hendricks and Sofia Vergara as “Breast In Show” in her “Dish Rag” report on Emmy fashion. But whereas Vergara’s strapless golden Carolina Herrera gown was subtle, Christina Hendrick’s feathery lilac Zac Posen gown was anything but.
The gown itself was a hit or miss (depending predominantly on whether or not the critic liked the feathery tufts), but its basic design was a winner. Some called it a bust, a not so subtle double entendre, but the gown did what it was designed to do — show off the “Mad Men” actress’ more prominent assets while accentuating her physical beauty. Snead likened the dress to a Mae West-like throwback and it certainly helped remind everyone why Christina Hendricks was Esquire magazine’s “Sexiest Woman in the World” in 2010.
Hendricks’ more noticeable physical elements aside, she has been noticed for her acting ability as well. She has been nominated for several awards since 2006, winning a SyFy Genre Award for Best Special Guest/Television award in 2006 for her work on the series “Firefly,” a 2009 Best Actress-Drama Series Award for “Mad Men” at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, and a 2009 Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the “Mad Men” Ensemble.
A retrospective of pictures of Christina Hendricks, including the Zac Posen “Breast In Show” gown, appears at Monsters and Critics.
