There are some things that I consider basics when it comes to making unique ornaments; these clear plastic stars are one of them. There are so many things that you can do with then and use them for that you will wonder how you ever made it through the holiday season without them! They are a two piece, breakaway design so you can stuff them with tinsel for a quick decoration or paint them for a more interesting look. If you have a color theme you are working with (like silver or gold) you can do a very light pass with spray paint to give it a shimmer but at the same time you will still be able to see what is inside it.
Most of the time these are sold by the dozen but you can buy them individually but you are going to pay a lot more for them that way. I get them for $4.00 for a dozen of them at a local craft store. They have them in stock year round so I don’t have to wait until they start stocking the seasonal items to get a jump on making decorations. You can personalize them with a permanent marker, use them for make a small diorama inside the star or put some mistletoe inside it to you can steal a kiss from your sweetheart without having to worry about pets nibbling on it.
About the only downside to the plastic stars is that they will show scratches and marring if they are not stored properly. I suggest wrapping them in tissue paper to keep them from rubbing against other ornaments. There’s really no limit to what you can do with these. If you have kids that like to make homemade gifts these are an affordable thing for them to work with. The plastic is strong and the snap seal on them locks tight so you will never have to worry about them falling apart. To make it easy to use as a decoration, there is a small loop attached to the top of it that you can thread ribbon through or use the old school metal ornament hangers on.
