Disneyfamilyfun.com is my favorite place to go for the ultimate ideas in holiday crafting and it isn’t any different with these festive Christmas Cats I found on their site. Christmas crafts with the kids is a splendid way to spend the weeks before the big day arrives! This craft will keep those little hands busy for awhile. In the meantime, enjoy the interaction with your kids during the holiday season.
Christmas Cats Supplies
Acrylic craft spoons
Wooden craft spoons (what you eat ice cream with)
Red glitter or beads
Fine point permanent marker
Green tissue paper
1. Paint 3 spoons three different colors. On the disneyfamilyfun site they’re shown in yellow, blue and red. Once that’s finished paint a square of each of those colors used on the spoons onto a piece of cardstock. Once that’s dry, cut out another smaller square within that painted square and fold the square in half. Then cut along the line to create 2 ears for each cat.
2. For the tail, just take a pipe cleaner and wrap it around a pencil to create a curled tail for each cat and glue to the back of each spoon.
3. With your fine point marker, draw on a face and glue on the seed beads for eyes. Make a collar of holly from 2 or 3 green tissue squares by twisting them around a pencil tip and then gluing them in the place where the cat’s neck is. You can add berries to the middle of the holly by gluing a red bead or sequins to the middle of the holly.
4. Finish by gluing small beads down the front of the cat’s body. Add a hanger to the top of the cat by gluing a thin ribbon or string to your cat ornament and you’re in business! Cat business that is!
