During a previous visit to Blue Ridge, Georgia, we drove by Christy Lee’s Courtyard Grille a few times. We said ‘next visit’ we would try it. I checked their website and saw several items on the menu that I knew we would enjoy.
My husband and I both love oysters and Christy Lee’s Courtyard Grille advertised oysters at $1.00 each all day, everyday. Their online calendar showed Wednesday as ‘Prime Rib’ special day. That sold us; we headed to Christy Lee’s on a Wednesday.
We were greeted at the door by the owner, Brenda (Lee). She introduced herself and then turned us over to the hostess who seated us. As we looked around the room we realized how small the restaurant was, but also how nicely decorated it was. The dishes and glassware on the tables sparkled. It was elegant yet casual at the same time.
We ordered our drinks and one dozen oysters. Once our server, Crystal, put in our order for the oysters, we were ready to order dinner. We both wanted the 12 oz Prime Rib, which was on special for $15.99. Both meals came with dinner salads, potato or rice and mixed veggies.
I asked for lettuce only as a salad with French dressing. They did not have French dressing, so I used lemon for the salad. I ordered the Prime Rib cooked medium and a baked potato. Crystal told me they only serve twice-baked potatoes, which are loaded with cheese and they could not do a plain baked potato. She said they had white rice with cilantro that I might enjoy. I said the rice would be fine. The Prime Rib was the important item, so I knew I could deal with rice instead of a potato. My husband also ordered the Prime Rib, but with the twice-baked potato and a regular salad.
We waited patiently for the oysters. The manager of Christy Lee’s Courtyard Grille, Andrew, came to our table and told us there was a slight problem. The oysters they received were extremely salty. He said he would send out two oysters for us to try. If we liked them fine, if not they would remove them from our check. Two oysters arrived and my husband and I both agreed they were too salty to enjoy.
There was a window into the cook’s area and I could see the chef and his staff working hard. I saw our server speaking with the chef. Again our server came over and said she had something to tell me. I thought, oh no what now? She smiled and said it was a ‘good thing’. The chef obviously felt bad that I was having a difficult time with my order, so he said he would make me mashed potatoes. That was a pleasant surprise and I was very happy.
When our meals were brought to us they were perfect. The Prime Rib was amazing. The mashed potatoes and the veggie mixture of green beans, carrots and squash were perfectly cooked. Everything was absolutely delicious. I glanced toward the window and the chef was watching me, so I gave him thumbs up! He smiled and went back to work.
The owner, Brenda, stopped by our table several times. She apologized for the oysters. She said they get a new oyster delivery every other day and if we went back on Friday she would give us a dozen oysters on the house. The manager had also stopped by several times and made the same offer. We didn’t make it back, but were pleased with the offer.
The attention to detail and personalized service, on top of delicious food, made it a meal to remember. They left no stone unturned regarding service and customer satisfaction. It was a true pleasure to know that the customers are number one at Christy Lee’s Courtyard Grille in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
For a small restaurant they do have an extensive menu. You can start with appetizers, which all sounded delicious I must say. From bacon wrapped scallops, coconut shrimp or a basic shrimp cocktail, you could make a meal from the appetizer selections alone!
Their menu has many entrées other than Prime Rib, such as Filet Mignon, Surf and Turf right through to several chicken selections, and many wonderful seafood choices. For the pasta lover, there are things such as Linguine and Clams or Chicken Picatta. By the time you eat your way to the dessert selections, if you have room, I heard the Vanilla Cheese Cake is fantastic. To see their entire menu -click here.
