Did you just get a new computer running Windows 7 and now you can’t connect to Citrix Metaframe? Can’t find the answer?
First of all you need to install the client ica32t.exe if you haven’t already as your company’s Citrix Metaframe login page should instruct you. Once logged into MetaFrame, it will prompt you to download launch.asp.ica. Once downloaded you will click on it as before to logon to your virtual work computer. Instead of logging in, you see the SSL Error 5(error code: 0x80090304 – Cannot contact local security instance) and your computer will not login the virtual computer. This is due to new internet protocols in Windows 7.
In order to fix this problem with ica32t.exe, you need to install another plugin from Citrix to circumvent the issue. That plugin may be installed from:
- From the Citrix download page, select XenApp from the dropdown list. This selection will add additional dropdown menus and also display results for XenApp.
- Under Clients and Plug-ins you will see a list of possible downloads. Select Online Plug-in to go to the download listings.
- You will want to download Citrix Online plug-in – Web. Select Download and click though the Citrix download windows and save it to an appropriate place that you will easily find on your computer.
- Open the location where you saved CitrixOnlinePluginWeb.exe , and double click to install.
Log back into your MetaFrame account and now when you open launch.asp.ica with the ica32t.exe program you should be able to log into your virtual work computer without any further SSL errors.
