Before the beginning of this, I shall refer you to my source http://www.41nbc.com/news/1009071668927/city-dublin-bans-sagging
Okay, did you read it? You didn’t? Well, read it. Okay, it’s read? And you aren’t lying about reading it? We’ll continue.
It’s understandable that law enforcement has taken a hit from the economy. Hell, we all have. However, to make ends meet by tagging people that let their pants hang low, is quite a low move. I’ll be the first to let anyone know that I don’t like the whole ass sag deal. I really don’t. Buy a fricken belt with pants that fit, seriously guys. The city of Dublin, GA has taken it a bit too far, though. It’s actually quite close to profiling and might even be a little racist.
I live in the middle Georgia area, which has quite a 50/50 mix of blacks and whites, with a few other colors thrown in for good measure. I go out every now and then, I notice what people wear. It’s mostly young black males that tend to like the ass sag pants. I’m not a fan of it, it’s not my thing, but whatever. It’s just what they do and I’m cool with it as long as they don’t say anything about what I’m wearing. Though, to be quite honest, it’s hard to critisize a white t-shirt and nicely fit blue jeans.
So now, cut to scene, you’re at a mall. At this mall, is ofcourse many obnoxious teenagers. Among them, a few young black males, who seem to prefer their pants to hang low. Now, I’m not being racist or anything, but many of them already don’t like the whole, “Whitey keepin’ me down!” deal. Which, you know, the only thing keeping them down is their situation in life. It’s not necessarily “whitey”. Okay, now with the banning of their clothing style, they actually have a good excuse for being kept down. Think about it, you only see black people in low pants. If you saw a white guy in low pants, well he’s just a douchebag and probably deserve the fine anyways (I’m racist towards the attitudes of my own skin color, deal with it). I mean, I just think there’s better things that the authorities should worry about. Sure, drug dealers/addicts are running the streets, people are being shot, but let’s relax a bit and fine some people for having obnoxiously low pants and call it a day. That’s great, Dublin, GA. It really is.
Now, maybe you should focus on the real problem at hand, other than racial profiling. It seems like you have nothing better to do? Well, come back to reality, you do. I don’t know the crime rate in Dublin, actually it may not even be that bad. In a city such as Macon or Warner Robins, however, it’s quite bad. If any other city follows suit on this, it will be one of the dumbest things I’ve seen of city officials. We may as well start outlawing people with excessive piercings and tattoos, as well. Hell, start fining men that wear makeup in public. Better yet! Let’s start fining women for wearing those oh-so-distracting booty shorts out in public.
Seriously, Dublin? There are better things you could be doing with your time.
