Certain software programs and devices can customize your computer and this can be done without much technical knowledge. These programs can tweak the computer settings and configure it to your specific needs.
Slim down the preloaded computer software. Most computersare provided with trial versions of programs that clog up space and are not effective. Remove these programs with computer software tools such as Revo Uninstaller. Download your desired software after deleting the unwanted programs.
Delete the surplus security programs. Some pre-installed security programs provide little protection and can greatly slow down the computer. Download and install a reliable anti-virus protection program such as Avast Antivirus.
Remove excess “start up” tools that slow down the computer’s boot up process. Select “Tools” in the “Control Panel” menu and click on “Start Up.” Disable any programs with the exception of anti-virus software. Other programs can be opened when necessary. Install and download a free program such as C-Cleaner, a program that deletes unnecessary files to help the computer run smoothly.
Adjust the graphics and display settings to your needs. Click on the “Start” menu, select “Control Panel,” and click on the “Display” tab. Set the screen resolution to fit to your specific needs. Options are setting a screen saver or desktop background.
Enter in a password that is comprised of a combination of letters and numbers during the BIOS start up process. Push “F2” when the computer prompts you to do so while it is rebooting.
