LeBron James, in his attempt to increase his popularity, teamed up with Nike to create a very controversial “LeBron Rise” ad that was filled with “What should I do?” questions. The instant the ad was released, it invited a rebuttal from Cleveland fans. After almost two weeks since the debut of the ad, Clevelanders have done just that.
The Cleveland response video depicted the so-called betrayal felt by Cleveland fans. The video ended with LeBron saying he would not stop until he brought a championship to the Cavaliers. While LeBron may warrant some of this backlash, as a Miami Heat fan I understand that LeBron James is simply a means to an end.
At the end of the day, NBA players want a championship ring on their finger. LeBron James chose the Miami Heat for that exact reason. After seven years with the Cavaliers, how much longer could he wait?
Miami Heat Fans understand this is a business partnership and we are very pleased that LeBron presence will dominate at the American Airlines Arena. As a Miami Heat fan, I will take a gander and attempt to answer LeBron James Ad from Miami’s perspective.
“Should I admit I’ve made mistakes?”
Hey, let’s not burn two bridges; add more fire to the flame… OK I think you get our point. The Cavaliers may despise the mention of your name, but us Heat fans can’t get enough of you. The only mistake you made was not coming to the Miami Heat earlier. Do you know how long we stood in line to get Heat jerseys’ with your name on it? Now that’s love LeBron.
“Should I really believe I ruined my Legacy?”
Because you switched from your home team, to attempt to win a championship in Miami? Well, maybe we should ask Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Bosch, Amare Stoudemire or even Michael Beasley (not sure if that was the best choice for him.) Don’t think you will hear a lot of their fans utterly and forever disappointed at their numerous switches.
“Should I tell you I’m a championship chaser…?”
Yes, please tell us that. Miami is counting on this trio to bring us another Championship. We can feel it? Can you feel it? Hey Shaq did it with Wade and Zo, and you can too.
“Should I be who you want me to be?”
You should be you, whoever you may be. Talented. Brilliant. Funny. Hey, after this ad, we are pretty sure Cavalier fans won’t garnish any guilt for blaspheming your name. At the very least, you may start selling more shoes.
Last but not least, thanks for rising up to the challenge LeBron. From our heart to yours, let’s win some games, not get hurt and maybe win a championship. Best of all, Miami Heat fans got your back; well at least until you switch to another team.
