The Cleveland Browns get a respite from the cold with a trip down to sunny Miami to play the resilient Miami Dolphins December 5th. Peyton Hillis is a one man wrecking crew of late but this same Miami Dolphins team snuffed out the Oakland Raiders running game in their victory. The Cleveland Browns narrowly escaped with a home win after dominating a bad Carolina Panthers squad.
Miami Dolphins Offense vs Cleveland Browns Defense
Chad Henne made his mark in his return to the Miami Dolphins against the Oakland Raiders. Going into the game his number one receiver Brandon Marshall was a scratch and he was not left with much to work with except some anxious running backs looking to break out and run wild. The question will have to be answered in this game against the Cleveland Browns if the performance in Oakland was an aberration or the real Miami Dolphins.
Defensively, the Cleveland Browns are average against the run, allowing 116 yards per game and they are below average against the pass, allowing 243 yards per game. The secondary of the Cleveland Browns is young and mistake prone but they are good up front. The defense is a work in progress but there is potential to build on for next year. With Mike Holmgren in the front office there will be several moves made to tighten up this secondary. The Miami Dolphins offense has a slight edge over the Cleveland Browns defense.
Cleveland Browns Offense vs Miami Dolphins Defense
Jake Delhomme, the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback is something of an anti-quarterback. He produces positive yards for the opposing defenses. No matter how many yards Peyton Hillis can knock out every game it will be an uphill battle to keep Delhomme from erasing the positive yardage every time he throws. Joshua Cribbs is another player that needs to be more involved in this offense in key situations. Cribbs brings an energy to this team that is lacking when he is not on the field.
The Miami Dolphins defense of today could be another no name defense if it were not for Karlos Dansby. He is the most recognizable and impactful player on this team. Dansby in the middle helps to stop the run and controls the passing lanes across the middle on this defense. One man can affect a teams production on the defensive side of the ball and that one man is Karlos Dansby. But can Dansby tackle Hillis? The Miami Dolphins defense has the edge over the Cleveland Browns defense.
