The Colorado Governor’s Race is underway for the November Elections.Three candidates are running this time. John Hickenlooper the Democratic Candidate, Tom Tancredo, the American Constitution Party Candidate and the regular Republican Candidate Dan Maes.
The Democratic Candidate is obviously following that path of ideas, strategy and platform. The other two candidates are fighting each other over the same issues. They both want to undo the last several years of Bill Ritter’s reign as Governor. They both want tough immigration laws and conservative values across the board.
Tom Tancredo is a long time politician. His background goes back to the Reagan era.Tancredo’s latest rally included Sheriff Joe Arpaio from Arizona and Dog The Bounty Hunter. For Conservatives,Tancredo has positioned himself as in the group of the extreme right. Running under the name of the American Constitution Party, he has stated that if elected, he will probably govern under the Republican genre.
Dan Maes, the other Republican is young and has absolutely no political experience. He is using that as a platform in his campaign. The current political climate of putting the old time scoundrels out, Maes is hoping the fresh approach will win the position with the Conservative voters in November.
The problem with Dan Maes entire campaign is his continued misdeeds. Not big misdeeds. Just those pesky little white lies or slip under the cover things, that eventually work their way out, when someone gets in the public eye. Maes first slip up was his bragging. His touting of his resume as a police officer in Kansas for many years was checked out. However, it could not be confirmed. According to the Denver Post, Maes’s claims of working undercover for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (which have now been taken off the site) don’t hold up. Denver Post today They removed that part of his qualifications from their website.
The next error was finances. In the last week, news has come out about an error on his financial statement. Though he is saying it isn’t a big deal, what are Colorado Voters going to say? Is Colorado ready to forfeit it morals and elect him? Only time will tell. Maes was taunted over and over by the Tancredo camp to step down and let Tancredo run as the Republican candidate. Dan Maes refused. He stood his ground and has continued to run as though nothing has happened. This guy is representing you and I. If we can prove he is capable of lying and sliding under the radar now, should be we be worried about what he will do in the future, if actually elected?
The people of Colorado have worked hard to build and present a state that we can be proud of. The last Presidential Election gave Colorado a new direction. Formally an all Republican state, Colorado completely turned the tables on the GOP. Though not perfect, Colorado has started the climb back to employment and stability. Dan Maes is running on the “Its OK if I lied just a little about being an undercover cop, platform.
I am not thrilled that Dan Maes has supporters at all. Is that what Coloradans think is going to benefit our state? Only the November elections will confirm or deny that. Dan Maes is willing to deceive you now, so if he is the next Governor, he will surely continue to do that, all the while smiling at the cameras. It sounds like he has been in politics longer than he actually has.
After going to a couple of rallies for Mr. Maes, I don’t see the character I would choose to be in charge of Colorado. His obvious demeanor in speaking and my knowledge of the deceptions, continues to support that belief. With two so-called Republicans in the race, it would seem impossible for either to win. I would theorize that John Hickenlooper will win, but I am sure Dan Maes will not.
