The Colossal Cave Mountain Park is located near Tucson, Arizona. At the Colossal Cave Mountain Park, you’re able to take a tour of the Colossal Cave, visit La Posta Quemada Ranch even go horseback riding, visit the Butterfly Garden, enjoy a picnic, go camping or enjoy some shopping in the gift shop.
Colossal Cave tours are given daily. These tours last approximately 45 minutes. During the Colossal Cave tour, the guide will tell you about the geology of the cave, as well as the history and legends about the Colossal Cave. During the tour, you’ll see different cave formations and works of people who have worked there or used the cave as a hide out.
There are special Cave Tours that require reservations, such as The Ladder. The Ladder is open to a small group of people. On this tour, you will see things not seen by the usual tour or every day public. This tour includes a buffet dinner and sometimes a bonfire. The Wild Cave Tour will guide you through unmarked and unlit passageways that the early explores used. On the Wild Cave Tour, you are provided hard hats and lights. If you’re feeling up for a wild adventure, make reservations and enjoy. There’s also a tour by Candle Light. This allows you to see the original beauty of the Colossal cave.
Daily trail rides are given at Colossal Cave Mountain Park. Western trail Rides leave from the La Posta Quemada Ranch. Each trail ride begins at the historic Mountain Springs Hotel and Stage Station, then follows the National Mail stagecoach route. You’ll see geological formations, a Hohokam bedrock mortar site, as well as the Sonoran Desert. Hayrides and stagecoach rides are available by reservations.
The Butterfly Garden at Colossal Cave Mountain Park has been designed to show the full life cycle of butterflies. This is a fun place to relax and admire the beauty of the butterflies in a natural environment.
There’s many hours of fun at Colossal Cave Mountain Park. There is a small entrance fee to enter the park. While the Colossal Cave tours and the Trail Rides are an additional fee, everything else in the park is free for you to enjoy. A fun family place to enjoy just outside of Tucson Arizona.
