A lot of people like to combine their trips to Noe Valley with the Castro, but I like to combine my visit to the art galleries of Valencia Street with a meal in the restaurants of Noe Valley.
Valencia has some of the most best, and most affordable galleries, in the Bay Area. City Art at 828 Valencia Street is a coop for local artist is only about half a mile from the eastern end (Guerrero Street) of 24th Street of Noe Valley. This end is well within walking distance from 20th and Valencia. This end is a bit from the heart of Noe Valley, but there are enough dining options.
In the area around the 24th Street and Church Station, there are a number of restaurants, including: Basso, Tamasei, Hamano and Fattoush. That is usually enough options for me. On some ocassions, I will walk deeper into the heart of Noe Valley. Great art and great food. After dinner I can take the J streetcar or BART back to downtown. There is even a Happy Donuts at the corner to buy a cinnamon roll a late night snack. It’s a wonderful combination.
