Ba-Ba Reeba is located at 2024 North Halsted Street, in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. It is the first Spanish restaurant to come to the city, and I have been dining here for years. The food is extremely fresh and the Meditteranean flavors will satisfy even the pickiest palate. There is a full menu offering platters or tapas, along with rice dishes, skewers, and desserts. There is even a gluten-free portion on the menu. There are over 75 menu options in all. And, let’s not forget the Sangria. It is the best around, and there are 6 to choose from, all made with fresh fruits.
Ba-Ba Reeba has a great atmosphere, and everyone from families to couples will feel welcome. The cozy surroundings offer bright, Spanish colors and sounds. It’s a great place for a romantic date, or a family affair. I have done both. My kids think it’s the best restaurant in town, and I encourage my neighbors to come and enjoy great food, at great prices, in a relaxed environment. It’s also a great place to celebrate a birthday.
When I come to Ba-Ba Reeba, I always order off the tapas menu. Some of my favorite tapas include: the garlic potato salad, the fried green peppers and coarse salt, the ahi tuna, shaved vegetable salad, meatballs with sherry tomato sauce, and the roasted chicken empanada.
I always order a glass of Sangria, and I have tried them all. My 2 favorites are the Passion Fruit Sangria, and the White Peach Sangria. They also offer: Classic, Black Raspberry, Sparkling Cava, and a House Special.
When you visit Ba-Ba Reeba, don’t leave without trying one of their delicious desserts. All the desserts are “bite size.” This way, you won’t feel guilty for indulging. I have had the mango sorbet, which is light and refreshing. I have also had the pleasure of tasting the chocolate truffle cake.
Ba-Ba Reeba has a children’s menu, and they do offer a weekend brunch, with a different menu. Brunch items include: sweet tapas, crepes, savory brunch tapas, and paninis. Brunch here is a great way to reconnect with your family and friends. I have done this with my girlfriends on many occasions. It’s a great place to have dinner after a day of shopping.
Reservations are encouraged, for this restaurant gets crowded, especially on the weekends. Reservations can be made by calling (773)935-0660. Catering and private parties are welcome. Hours of operation are as follows:
