Coming to terms with your past can take time. Everyone has a history it can’t be avoided no matter how hard you try. Some people just have more interesting and longer histories than others. There are things in every one’s lives that they wish they hadn’t done sometimes those things involve hurting someone they care deeply about. Even the things that we do that don’t hurt anyone can cause us a number of regrets.
While the pain they inflicted wasn’t intentional there is nothing they can do that will undo it no matter how much they want to. There are times when this can cause ties to be cut with those that you dearly love. As time passes you begin to miss those people more and more even when your life seems to be all that you want it to be. The fact that you are missing people that you love dearly can make you miserable even when times are supposed to be great.
How many times have you been so in love with someone that you couldn’t make it through an hour without stopping to day dream about them? Then when you broke up you couldn’t stand to be around them? Well, this unfortunately happens more than we like to think even with those that have sworn that no matter what they’ll always be friends. When the relationship went far enough that you had a child together just to reach a point where being in the same place was impossible it’s even sadder.
The best thing that can be done for our health and piece of mind is to let the past go and remember the good times. When we take the time to remember the good times we once shared with those that we have loved and basically written off we begin to heal ourselves. Take a deep breathe and start over with those that you have loved and lost.
Loving even those that we don’t agree with and forgiving those that hurt us no matter how deeply is far better than being angry and alone. Finding it in our hearts to make peace with ourselves and our pasts will help make our futures much better. The little things mean the most which makes telling those we love how we truly feel even when we’re mad at them the most beneficial thing we can do for ourselves. Learning to follow our own advice will keep us from ending up alone, lonely, scared or just wishing that we could somehow go back in time and keep those that we love more than life in our lives.
