Office furniture is meant to be used and enjoyed by people, either visitors or your employees. Chances are somewhere along the line, some minor damages may occur accidentally. Here are some common remedies for more frequent mishaps.
Gum or Wax: Holding an ice cube wrapped in cloth against the substance will harden it, making removal easy to do with your fingernail or a plastic credit card. Dip an extra fine (0000) steel wool pad in mineral spirits and rub the affected area. Polish or wax after wiping it dry.
Nail Polish: Blot it immediately. Dip a fine steel wool pad (0000) in wax to rub the area. Polish or wax after wiping dry.
Light Cigarette Burns: Applying a polish designed to conceal scratches can work. Or prepare a linseed oil and rottenstone paste to apply, working it into the grain until the burn mark disappears.
Heat Marks: Rubbing gently along the grain of the wood office furniture either with an extra-fine (0000) steel wool; a dry steel wool soap pad; or mineral spirits or camphorated oil applied with a damp cloth. Always wipe thoroughly clean immediately and polish or wax the affected area of your hardwood office furniture.
