As a native north westerner I know Seattle has much to offer for the 2022 World Cup event. Seattle has been home to the Major League Soccer team the Seattle Sounders since 1974 and has established the team as a major competitor in the league not only by their performance but by their fans. Anyone that has been to a Sounders game in Seattle has witnessed the “March to the Match” played by The Sound Wave, the Sounders own marching band. That’s right the Sounders have their own marching band! The March to the Match gets fans excited for the game and helps build momentum for the team.
What else does Seattle have to offer besides a world class soccer team and a marching band? Seattle has a lot more to offer! Seattle has two large stadiums, Qwest Field and Husky Stadium with seating for over 139,000 people between the two stadiums. For the fans that will come to Seattle for more than just the soccer, Seattle offers a treasure trove of activities and excitement. Seattle is one of the few locations where visitors can go sailing, fishing, golfing or skiing all within a short drive from the city. Seattle is also home to such attractions as the world famous Space Needle rotating restaurant, Pikes Place Market and the Science Fiction Museum, just to name a few.
If the United States wants to make a good impression on visitors from around the world the people of Seattle will make great dignitaries. Seattle is consistently voted as one of the top ten smartest cities in the United States. With over 91% of the city having graduated high school and over 34% having college degrees the people of Seattle have the skills to show off their amazing city.
Let’s not beat around the bush here, Seattle rocks! The home of grunge rock and good coffee is more than able to host the stage for the largest soccer event of 2022. Successfully hosting world class events is a part of Seattle’s history for more than 100 years. In 1909 Seattle hosted the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition Worlds Fair. Since that time Seattle has hosted another Worlds Fair, sporting events and even international political debates and all very successfully I might add. When it comes to a city that can show off what the United States is all about Seattle has it covered.
