Incumbent Rep. Bobby Bright has shown the people of his district that he will listen to their problems and work hard to solve them. Constant contact with the citizens of Alabama’s 2nd U.S. House District keeps the needs and problems foremost in his mind. As a member of the Blue Dog Coalition, his goal is to unite the two parties for the good of the country. Bright stands up for Alabama and the country when making decisions.
Because the failing economy along with the state of health care in this country is a major concern for most people, Rep. Bright is focused on the need to bring back the family farm and small, independent businesses.
“As small business owners’ nationwide struggle to keep their doors open, it is critical that we maintain policies that foster job creation,” Bright stated in a press release.
“The National Federation of Independent Business thanks Representative Bright for standing up for business owners, our nation’s job creators,” according to Brad Close when asked why the NFIB supported Bobby Bright in a press release. Bright fought against higher taxes for the small business owners in Alabama. In his platform, he states that, “…I favor shrinking the tax code to reduce the role of the Internal Revenue Service and improve taxpayer compliance.” His voting record and the growth of small business in Alabama are proof that Congressman Bright has been working for the people of the area.
Health care reform always raises questions, especially with the number of senior citizens increasing each year and families hurting due to the large number of unemployed in the state. After talking to citizens of District 2 in Alabama regarding health care, Congressman Bright stated on his campaign site, “This is a problem for many people, from senior citizens concerned about the skyrocketing price of prescription drugs to working parents working to keep up with the ever-increasing price tag of health care coverage.” Even though Congressman Bright voted against the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the reasons for his vote were valid. When questioned by the press, Congressman Bright issued the following statement to explain his actions. “I voted against the health care reform bill because our country cannot afford its massive cost …” My endorsement for Congressman Bright is based on his proven record in Congress and the concern demonstrated for the people of his district.
