Beauty fades, but it fades a lot quicker if you smoke.
For one thing, no matter how often you brush your teeth, that lingering stench of smoke and tobacco is always prevalent on your tongue and the yellowing of your teeth. Your lips become dry and cracked from the inhalant of smoke, and you will get premature age lines around your lips from constant sucking in and dragging on a cigarette.
Your fingers get stained yellow from the burning cigarette butt in your hand. Not to mention the yellowing of your fingernails from the smoke floating around.Your hair and clothing carry that stench of stale smoke with you, and the ends of your hair that frame your face dry out and look split-ended from the smoke that is always in the ends of your hair when you smoke.
You also tend to go grey sooner, your hair looks dry and stringy and like straw, and the whites of your eyes catch that yellowish tint of age to them. When you take an “eye hit” your eyes get all red and watery.
That “smoker’s cough” that you pick up after a while is not an attractive look on anybody. When you cough up a huge brown loogie and it sticks to your lip or sprays all over your hand, I don’t care how hot you are, it’s just not pretty. You also tend to cough more often with abandon as if you have Bronchitis all the time.
You get premature wrinkles on your forehead, premature frown lines, and lines around your lips and nose, and even on your lips from the drying out of your skin and the constant inhaling motion that tightens your face muscles up.
You can singe your eyelashes, eyebrows, or bangs lighting a cigarette, or ash on yourself and get really nasty burns on your hands, neck, or your clothing. You can get a raspy voice that sounds a lot older than you are, and smoking affects your ability to sing and laugh without hacking.
Your purse always smells like smoke, and so does your money, your credit cards, your chapstick, your change, your gum, and even your perfume. That stale smoke smell lingers everywhere. Also,If you wear leather and you smoke, it’s a disgusting combination. Nobody looks great in leather if they smell like a bar.
Even if you wash and sanitize your hands, they always have that ash scent that you can’t wash off. Your breath actually smells worse after you brush your teeth, and no amount of mints or gum can mask that sour smoke smell. You can brush your tongue, teeth, and the insides of your mouth, but you can’t entirely mask that smoker’s smell.
If quitting smoking for your health isn’t enough to get you to kick the habit (I know it’s hard), just imagine how people are noticing how you smell and look, and that may be enough motivation to get you to put out that cigarette.
