Having recently been dogged with affair rumors, Courteney Cox and David Arquette have called it quits after 11 years of marriage.
Making the announcement in a statement, the former couple tells, “The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage.”
Courteney and David, who share a 6-year-old daughter named Coco, add, “We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply. As we go though this process we are determined to use kindness and understanding to get through this together.”
The statement finishes by telling, “We are comfortable with the boundaries that we have established for each other during this separation and we hope that our friends, family, fans and the media also show us respect, dignity, understanding and love at this time as well.”
Courteney Cox was spotted without her wedding ring in Beverly Hills yesterday (October 11).
The “Friends” actress looked to be in good spirits as she made her way out of her house with a friend while daughter Coco followed along closely behind.
Back in April, Cox was rumored to be running around with her “Cougar Town” costar Brian Van Holt, especially after she opted to stay overnight on the set with him.
Brian sent Courteney’s limousine away from the set without her, leaving the gossip mills swirling with speculation.
An insider revealed, “The driver went there to get her to take her home but Brian (Van Holt) came out instead. Brian dismissed the driver, telling him that she (Courteney) would be staying there, and that he didn’t need to come back.”
With news of their split all over the internet, David Arquette called in to Howard Stern’s radio show today to explain what happened to his marriage with Courteney Cox.
The “Scream” actor shared, “We’re not having sex, and I completely understand. She’s in a place of wanting to be real and emotional. She’s an emotional being. She’s an amazing woman. If it doesn’t feel right, she doesn’t feel like bonding in that way.”
“She says that to me: ‘I don’t wanna be your mother anymore.’ I appreciated that. I respected that. I’ve been going to therapy. I’m trying to grow up.”
David added, “She’s the greatest woman I’ve ever met … Now, yes, she’s got her issues. She tries to take on everybody’s problem. She tries to be the mother to everyone – that’s why she doesn’t want to be the mother to me anymore.”
