The Cowboy Chic decor style has become a popular design trend in many areas of the country. This chic cowboy brands coffee table project incorporates symbols used on the range for centuries and turns them into a great piece of furniture.
For this project, you will need:
– One unfinished wooden coffee table
– Medium or fine grit sandpaper
– Tack cloth or other similar style soft cloth
– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
– Krylon Brushed Metallic Paint in Caramel Latte
– Krylon Short Cuts Hobby and Craft Paint Pen in Espresso
– Cowboy brands clip art (found online or part of clip art collections)
– Craft knife
– Self healing mat
– Masking tape
– Craft paper or dissembled paper bag
– Newspaper, old towels, or large drop cloth
Before starting this project, cover the work area with newspaper sheets, old towels, or a large drop cloth to protect it during the crafting process. Sand the surface of the unfinished wooden coffee table with medium o fine grit sandpaper. Use a tack cloth or other similar style cloth to wipe away any wood dust or grit from the surface of the table.
Prime the entire table using one thick coat of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Let the primer dry for a couple hours. Paint the table with five to six coats of Krylon Brushed Metallic Paint in Caramel Latte. Dry for thirty minutes between each paint coat and then overnight.
Print several different styles of cowboy brands onto cardstock, each two to five inches in height. Choose designs from online galleries or clip at collections. Use designs that pique your interest, either matching or not. Place the printed cardstock sheets onto the self healing mat. Very carefully use a craft knife to cut out each brand design. Discard the cutouts.
Use masking tape to adhere the remaining cardstock pieces to the table, leaving the brand shape exposed. Cover all other areas with craft paper, a dissembled paper bag, or masking tape for protection. Paint the exposed cowboy brand areas using a Krylon Short Cuts Hobby and Craft Paint Pen in Black. Wait an hour before adding a second coat of black paint to the designs. Dry overnight before enjoying your new coffee table.
TIP: To refurbish an existing coffee table, use paint stripper and/or thinner before the sanding process of this project.
