Helping kids to keep their rooms organized is one thing. Closets are even more difficult to keep organized. As a mom I have found it very difficult to keep my kids closet neat and organized. There always seems to be items on the floor, or hanging off the hanger. No matter what we try the closet never seems to stay together. By applying a few simple techniques you should have no problem teaching your children how to manage their own clothing and keep them neatly arranged. Below you will find some simple ideas on how you can creatively keep your kids closet neat and organized.
Use Stackable bins
Stores like Walmart, sell nice square sized stackable bins. These bins come in a nice variety of comors and can really help to keep the bottom of the kids closet organized. The kids can easily stack them any way that they want. What is nice about these bins is that they are easy for little kids to reach and put their close away. For some reason my kids also find them to be a lot of fun to stack.
Match up the outfits
Taking the time to match up the outfits is really a great time saver. I have found this to be especially helpful when it comes to boys. Girls often like to do this themselves, but boys don’t really mind have their outfits already matched up. I usually like to match the kids outfits right after the laundry is done. You can hang them up together or you can use the bins to match up the entire outfit including the socks. This way all the kids have to do is come in and put the clothes on. For girls you can group the outfits together according to colors. This way they can still mix and match their outfits as they please. When it comes ot their accessories you can use hooks to hang up these items. For example pockets books, hats, backpacks, and winter items can all be placed on the hooks.
Label the drawers
For younger kids you really want to take the time to label the drawers. Putting the labels on the drawers help to ensure that the kids clothes are put into the right drawer. Each day after the laundry is done, you can have the kids take their time and put the clothes in the proper drawer.
