It’s the day after Thanksgiving, and your freezer is full of frozen turkey. What in the world do you do with it? Here is a guide on what to do with all that left over turkey. Really what you have to do is just be creative. Turkey is a very healthy non-fattening meat. Most of us only eat turkey once a year. Maybe twice, a year at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Turkey Tacos Why not make turkey tacos, just add lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and your favorite salsa or hot sauce, and presto you have turkey tacos.
Turkey Quesadillas I would never have thought of making quesadillas with turkey, but I was desperate and hungry. This is what I came up with . I had tortillas, cheese, and a whole bunch of turkey in the fridge. I was going to use corn tortillas, but I had an idea, flour tortillas sounded really good. This is how I made my turkey quesadillas. Spread flour tortilla with butter, or margarine on one side . Fill with turkey, and cheese of your choice. Fold tortilla and place on hot griddle , or in frying pan. Grill until light brown on both sides, and cheese is melted. Garnish with Salsa, and avocado slices. This was delicious , and I will definitely make this again.
Tip A good way to make your turkey moist, and juicy is to place turkey slices in a container filled with just a little bit of water, and cover it with a napkin or lid but not snapped on . Just loosely place the lid, on the container and microwave for about 45 seconds. Microwave temperatures vary, so be careful how long you microwave your turkey. You don’t want to dry your turkey out.
Open Faced Turkey Sandwich If you still have some left over gravy, a good way to use it is to make an open faced turkey sandwich. Just follow the tip above to make your turkey moist. Toast some bread , and if you have some left over gravy heat it up and pour it over turkey and toast for a easy and quick dinner.
Cold Turkey Sandwich To make a basic cold turkey sandwich , you can choose to toast your bread or not. Top bread with cold turkey , condiments of your choice and lettuce, tomatoes, even a slice of bell pepper is delicious. Experiment, and try different veges on your sandwich. The sky is the limit here!
Turkey Enchiladas Basically, here just use turkey, and make your favorite enchilada recipe.
Turkey Hash My mother used to make this every year. If you have left over stuffing , and gravy just mix together for a delicious turkey hash.
