Have you ever wondered what someone was talking about when they mentioned their “family jewels”? Many guys use this common phrase to refer to their intimate parts in a polite manner, while others may be talking about rubies and emeralds, but in some cases, people very well may be talking about a relative or pet. Cremation diamonds are those that are literally made from the ashes of a loved one. They are a synthetic diamond made from the carbon pressures of the ashes. These cremation diamonds can be rather expensive, costing anywhere from $1,300 all the way up to $20,000 depending on the size and shape of the diamonds that you are looking to have your loved one turned into.
Life Gem, the first company to successfully turn a pet’s cremated ashes into a cremation diamond has become a big hit recently in the media due to it’s carbon pressure technology and giving family members a new option to keeping a loved ones ashes on the mantel in a urn. Not everyone likes to spread the ashes of their loved one, therefore, cremation diamonds are a new option for those that can afford it. According to Life Gem, the process of creating a cremation diamond is thus:
1. Carbon molecules must be separated from the ashes.
2. The separated carbon molecules are turned to graphite.
3. The process of crystallization is started by using a starter crystal in the graphite.
4. The graphite is subjected to a gradual increase in heat and pressure. This heat and pressure will increase to 2,372 degrees and 55 giga pascals of pressure.
5. The carat of the diamond is formed. This is determined by the length of the growth phase that the diamond will undergo.
6. Synthetic carbons are added, if you choose, to color the diamond.
According to Life Gem, several dozen cremation diamonds can be created from one pet. It is figured that approximately one small diamond can be made from each cubic inch of ash.
