While Clinton Hill is much safer than 10 years ago, its crime statistics are worse this year than last in almost every category; only burglaries seem to be down this year.
Rapes and murders are both up, as are assaults, robberies and car thefts. Does this mean Clinton Hill is backsliding into crime? One can’t help but remember that on Oct. 12, Terrell Canty was shot and killed at the intersection of Classon and Lafayette during the daylight hours.
Politicians in the area should make this alarming trend a priority, and we should all work together to halt the slow creep of crime that Clinton Hill is experiencing. It is in everyone’s interests to reverse the trend before it gets worse and spreads into other neighborhoods.
