Monday night on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, it was time to take a retro walk into TV land as the stars danced to some of the most popular television theme songs of all time. At the halfway point of the Dancing With the Stars competition it was more important than ever for the stars to show impress the judges- and the fans- in order to move one step closer to that coveted mirror ball trophy. So how did the top 8 stars score this week on Dancing With the Stars Season 11?
Here are the DWTS Season 11 Judges’ Scores for week 5:
Brandy and Maks Chmerkovskiy -Quickstep- (“I’ll Be There for You”- Theme to Friends)
After a perky, energetic quickstep, this week’s first couple received rave reviews from the judges. Len Goodman told the pair, “Without a doubt your best dance”, while Bruno Tonioli said, “You found the right formula.”
JUDGES SCORE : 27/30
Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas – Tango – (Theme to The Brady Bunch )
During rehearsals, Flo’s Brady Bunch son Greg aka Barry Williams showed up and dissed pro partner Corky Ballas, saying to his TV mom and real life crush, “He’s a little young for you…he’s younger than Bobby!” When it came to dance time, Flo started out looking more like Carol Ingalls than Carol Brady, but she quickly shed the prairie gear and got into her tango. Carrie Ann Inaba called Florence “a sexy senior” and Len called the performance “possibly your best dance so far.”
JUDGES SCORE : 21/30
Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya -Quickstep- (Theme to Bewitched)
This cutesy quickstep came complete with nose wriggling and Kurt dancing as the first Darrin. Carrie Ann thought Warner channeled Gene Kelly, while Bruno proclaimed, “The magic is back!”
JUDGES SCORE : 24/30
Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani -Rumba – (“Unwritten”- Theme to The Hills)
After a bizarre onion eating lesson to ease the jitters and eliminate any sexual tension, The Hills star danced a subdued rumba. Bruno told Patridge, “Technically you have improved…but I want it pulsating with passion.” He warned Patridge, “Don’t be plastic, be fantastic.” Meanwhile Carrie Ann accused her of a federal offense-a lift! Tony Dovolani vehemently denied any liftoff.
JUDGES SCORE : 23/30
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – Foxtrot- (Theme to Charlie’s Angels)
It was hard to get past the Disney star’s inane Richard Pryor afro and mustache. Bruno called the dance” a foxtrot possessed”, while Len called the whole mess horrendous. Host tom Bergeron joked to Len, ” I thought you liked the 70’s….oh, the 1870’s.”
JUDGES SCORE : 20/30
Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke – Rumba- (Theme to Hills Street Blues)
This was one of the basketball star’s more elegant dances. Carrie Ann gushed, “Officer, Officer, I want to report a crime…it should be a crime that you can look that good rumba so well!” But Len disagreed, saying the dance was”more like a couple staying together for the children”. Bruno added, “The children are going to be gorgeous” and said that Fox went from “Megaton to mega smooth”.
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas – Jive-(Theme to the Monkeys)
Palin and pro partner Mark Ballast started their dance off in money suits and Len thought they should have kept the suits on longer, calling it “good fun”. Bruno said Palin’s twists were good but overall she lost timing and it just wasn’t sharp enough. Carrie Ann saw a real transformation, though. Bristol still said, “I hate the jive.”
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough Foxtrot– – (“Love and Marriage”- Theme to Married with Children)
Actress Jennifer Grey and pro dancer Derek Hough seemed to be channeling Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in the movie Revolutionary Road on this dance, because they sure as heck weren’t Al and Peg Bundy! Bruno loved it, calling Grey “the perfect housewife”, while Carrie Ann called the couple out of sync and Len criticized the theatrics and Grey’s 12 bar waiting period with a feather duster.
JUDGES SCORE : 25/30
Tuesday night on the Dancing With the Stars results show singer Jason Derulo will perform his song “In My Head” as well as a revamped version of “Georgia On My Mind”. And Latin pop star Shakira will perform her song “Loca”. Plus, who will go home on Tuesday night’s Week 5 live DWTS elimination?
