The 2010 Dancing With the Stars finals begin tonight with the final performance show of the season. Now 2011Dancing With the Stars cast interest is also starting to form, as viewers of the show begin to wonder who will be gracing the dance floor with their presence this winter. With the way this past season of Dancing With the Stars has gone, it will be very interesting to see if all of the viewers return for the 2011 installment, and that could raise the stakes when it comes to producers tracking down “stars.” First thing’s first, though, and that is the Dancing With the Stars finale.
There are just three couples left competing for the mirror ball trophy this season, and there weren’t many fans who could have predicted who the final three couples would be. Competing with two dances on the Monday, Nov. 22, episode of Dancing With the Stars will be Jennifer Grey & Derek Hough, Kyle Massey & Lacey Schwimmer, and Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas. It doesn’t seem like all three couples have an equal chance to win the show this year, with common assumptions being that it will come down to Jennifer Grey or Bristol Palin to determine the celebrity winner this season.
For many weeks, Grey and Hough seemed like the couple that could easily win the 2010 season of the show. Massey and Schwimmer have been improving quite a bit over the past few weeks, though, and in the week nine performance show, they actually garnered the second-best scores from the judges. That aided in the elimination of Brandy as one of the celebrity contestants, but one of the other reasons was how much audience support Palin and Ballas have been getting this season. It creates quite a few interesting sub-stories as we head into the first episode of the Dancing With the Stars finals.
The Monday performance show will air at 8 p.m. on Nov. 22 and will extend until the season premiere of Skating With the Stars. Then, on Tuesday night, the finale will begin at 9 p.m. and run two hours, most likely filled with a bunch of return performances by couples who were sent home earlier in the season. You can expect to see the first nine couples who were eliminated back on the dance floor, several musical guests, lots of drama from host Tom Bergeron, and then, finally, the revelation of who has won the 11th season of Dancing With the Stars . Grab a seatbelt, because it could be a bumpy ride.
