The dance floor was polished and the judges and audience back in place for the tense ninth elimination results show of DWTS Season 11. It’s down to the last four couples. Last night Bristol Palin got the lowest score but only by 4 points. So who was safe tonight or in jeopardy and going home?
For the reprise performance the judges asked to see Brandy and Maks’ tango. It was just as riveting and enchanting as it was last night.
Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome Annie Lennox who performed “Universal Child” from her new album “A Christmas Cornucopia.” The dancers were two gorgeous African-Americans. The shirtless hunk Brandon was from “So You Think You Can Dance.”
Jen-Hough-er was lined up and a montage of their backstage moments from last night was played. Then it was announced that they were:
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough = Safe
And the most beloved couple would go to the finale. Is it fair that Derek has gotten two good dance partners in a row. Does it stipulate in his contract that he will always get an awesome star dance partner? Because even though he is good, all the other men are too, so why will he be heading to his second win in a row?
Then please welcome the Macy’s Stars of Dance Performance: Derek Hough and Cheryl Burke. They jived to Billy Joel’s “It’s still rock and roll to me.” The setting: a 50s drive-in and they were flirting around a red convertible. It was nice to see Cheryl again and this fun dance.
Then the fate for the second highest scoring couple was revealed:
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer = Safe
Kyle is really delightful and a great dancer. So it will be fun to see him in the finals.
Ladies and gentlemen please welcome Annie Lennox again who performed “Little Bird.” The dancers were outfitted like birds and the abrupt chicken-like moves were interesting.
Then please welcome Enrique Iglesias who performed “I like it.” He used the same voice-warping effect as Lil Wayne.
But we really wanted to know was who was going to the finals and who wasn’t:
Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas
Finally the last two couples were lined up and it was revealed that Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were the ninth couple to be eliminated. It was quite shocking and even Derek Hough – mouth agape – couldn’t contain his surprise. Brandy was shocked and didn’t have many words. Then she started crying when they showed the video montage of her DWTS journey. Later on she told reporters that she was numb but proud of herself and Maks according to Entertainment Weekly.
Well, Bristol “the pistol” fans really rallied behind her even though she should have been eliminated weeks ago. People really should vote on how the person can dance – not if they like them or not. Bristol really can’t dance and isn’t fun to watch. But as Maks kept reminding us, it is a democracy, so it’s up to the people and that should be accepted. Anyway it looks like Jen-Hough-er will win the competition. And basically we’ll all just forget about these stars once the show is over next week, right?
Dancing with the Stars: The Results airs Tuesdays at 9 pm on ABC.
