Dancing With the Stars Oct. 12 results are in from the Tuesday episode of the show. This was the fourth week of the season, and by the end of the night, a fourth couple had been voted off the show. In the first three weeks of season 11, it could have been pretty easy to simply guess which couple was going home each week. The judges’ scores seem to be mirroring what the home audience is feeling each week, and it has led to the lowest-scoring couple getting eliminated way more often than in the past. This might be a good thing, but it could have also just sent home a fan favorite.
The fourth couple to be voted off Dancing With the Stars this season was The Situation and Karina Smirnoff, who had been the lowest-scoring couple this week. They join David Hasselhoff and Kym Johnson, Michael Bolton and Chelsie Hightower, and Margaret Cho and Louis Van Amstel as the other couples who have been voted off so far this season. It was a tough week for The Situation and Smirnoff, who were asked to perform an Argentine Tango as their dance this time around. They flailed when it came to the technical scores, receiving only 12 out of 30 possible points in their score.
During the fourth week episode, all of the couples were graded both on performance as well as their technique, which allowed the couples to excel in one or both of the grading scales. The total score from the judges was on a 60-point scale (30 for technique and 30 for performance), which meant that there were two ways to earn points. The Situation and Smirnoff didn’t impress on either scoring system, netting only 12 points for their technique and 16 points for their performance. In comparison, the other couple closest to them in the scores was Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas with 32 out of 60. The leaders (Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough) had 56 out of 60 on Monday.
Some will argue that The Situation had a disadvantage this season on the show because he had less time to prepare before the season began. With filming of the newest season of Jersey Shore running long, he only had a few days to get to know his partner and prepare before the first week of dances. Maybe it was because of the lack of early practices that he fell behind early, or maybe this just isn’t something that is really in his wheelhouse. Either way, The Situation is done with Dancing With the Stars, and the show moved on with the remaining eight couples for the next week of competition.
