Dancing With The Stars Week 4 aired live last night on ABC and brought with it some rather refreshing insights as well as a new round dance floor. Stars and their partners danced either a rumba or tango to an all-acoustical band, (the first ever in eleven seasons), and took to a new raised stage that also help to increase the audience’s awareness of dancer’s mistakes.
Additionally, scores were levied against both technical and artistic performance (30 points possible for each criteria), thus dancers received two separate scores that combined with a possibility of reaching a total of 60.
Kurt Warner seemed like Ward Cleaver (but in a nice way!) when he proclaimed that dancing “intimately” with someone other than his wife made him a little uncomfortable.
“Being a Christian guy, it’s definitely a challenge for me to dance intimately with someone who’s not my wife,” Warner explained. But wife Brenda assured Kurt that it was okay for him to dance the dance of love in a role-playing mode.
With his wife’s approval, Warner and pro dancer Anna Trebunskaya performed and received a 34/60.
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough were on fire last night as they danced a tango that earned them several scores of ten, the first for Season 11. Their dance was nearly perfect and Grey looked as if she was indeed one of the professional dancers instead of a “star”. Team Jenougher scored a whopping 56/60 points.
The Situation has dug himself further into a sticky situation. With pro partner Karina Smirnoff, The Situation looked fluid at times and short, choppy and jerky at others as they danced to earn a 28/60. Even revealing his perfect torso of chiseled abs for the first time this season didn’t elevate his score.
Bristol Palin stepped outside her comfort zone and performed a sexy rumba with partner Mark Ballas who stated before their dance in the typical taped segment, “The rumba and Bristol have absolutely zero in common.”
However, Palin ended up doing better than she did in Week 3 and earns 32/60 points as the camera pans to the audience to see Sarah, Todd and Piper cheering the single teen mother after her performance.
