As we headed into the Dancing with the Stars week 8 results show, co-host Brooke Burke reminded us, “Leaderboard toppers are not safe from elimination.”
So, who’s going to the semi-finals?
Comedy included the silly “Dance Center,” set up to mimic Sports Center. At one point, dancers were analyzed as if they were football players or basketball players. Of course, Dancing with the Stars would not be complete without musical guests. They included British singer Taio Cruz, John Legend and The Roots.
We got to see very young performers, younger than teenagers, perform – one on piano and the rest as dancers. “You’re looking at season 30,” host Tom Bergeron joked.
The first couple announced as safe were Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer. In addition, their impressive Jive, that produced two scores of 10 from the judges, was the dance the judges wanted to see again. Also safe were Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough, who received perfect scores of 10 for their Rumba. Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas, who scored at the bottom of the leaderboard based on the judges scores, again, were safe, again.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy apologized to Carrie Ann Inaba for arguing with her Monday night, but his final words on that subject were “let’s do our jobs.” Maks feels Brandy should not be penalized for his mistake. As it turned out, however, Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy landed in jeopardy, as well as Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya.
Ultimately, the couple voted off of Dancing with the Stars was Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya.
Kurt left with a good attitude, which fortified what Bruno Tonioli said about losing a “real gentleman.”
Celebrities in the Dancing with the Stars semi-finals are Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer, Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough, Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas and Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Episode 17 of Dancing with the Stars will air on Monday, November 15, 2010 on ABC.
