It has been a busy week of celebrity breakup announcements, the latest of which involves Courteney Cox and David Arquette. Cox and Arquette are currently doing a trial separation, but after the remarks that David made to Howard Stern, it is doubtful that a reconciliation will take place. Arquette was more than forthcoming about his relationship with the Friends star, particularly regarding their sex life. He is not the first celebrity to reveal intimate details after a split. Here are three more individuals who divulged more than we cared to know.
Who could forget the statements this singer made after he and Jessica Simpson broke up? Though the couple never married, they were a high-profile twosome from 2006-2007. It wasn’t until this year that Mayer spoke publicly about his relationship with Simpson. He referred to her as “sexual napalm,” and he even indicated that he would have paid to continue sleeping with her if she had offered it (nydailynews.com). Simpson appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show in March and expressed how embarrassed she was that Mayer made such comments. She also acknowledged that worse things could have been said about her.
It wasn’t so much about sexual revelations that Houston shared with Oprah last year; it was more about the other details of her marriage to Bobby Brown that proved astonishing. In a two-part interview, the singing diva shared intimate facts of her drug use, the abusive way Brown treated her, and their addiction to lovemaking. Viewers suspected that something was going on with the singer, but it wasn’t until she came clean with Oprah, after the end of her marriage, that we found out the specifics.
If this woman doesn’t ring a bell, think about the Beatles – Sir Paul McCartney, to be exact. The billionaire singer married Mills several years after his beloved wife, Linda, died of cancer. Mills has an unstoppable ability to speak her mind, and though she kept quiet for 18 months after it was announced that she and McCartney were over, the divorce dragged on and on in a very public way. Mills accused the singer of being stingy with his money when it came to charitable giving. She also implied that he was a broken man, whom she put back together again after they became an item (msnbc.com). She even told Sir Paul that if he would take the blame for their divorce, and openly make that concession to the world, she would walk away with nothing. Needless to say, this woman was not very well-liked in Britain, her and McCartney’s homeland.
So, with these examples, how will Courteney and David fare from what’s been said in the Howard Stern interview? Arquette was not much of a serious actor to begin with, and his actions are not putting him in the best light. Courteney will not be affected as much because she took an honest approach to the separation, based on what David said about it. Chances are that these two actors will continue with career success. When enough time passes, these things are long forgotten.
