Have you ever taken off your tights or pantyhose and had to fight them to keep them from rolling down? Pantyhose have a way of doing that, and if you use that fact to your advantage, you can make all sorts of new things for your home. Use old pantyhose or tights to make picture frames, Frisbees and much more!
Cut the legs off of a pair of pantyhose or tights and cut the feet off as well. Slide one of the hosiery pieces onto your leg, then roll it down, starting towards the top and rolling towards the bottom. Remove the rolled stocking from your leg. It’s now a tightly-rolled ring that can be used to make all sorts of things.
Make a picture frame by cutting a photo and a piece of thin cardboard into circles a tad smaller than the pantyhose ring. Mount the photo to the cardboard then glue the ring around the picture. You can make a stand for it by cutting a half-bow tie-type design from cardboard and mounting the shortest end to the back of the frame.
Make a wall hanging photo display by using several of the pantyhose rings. Use a thin slab of wood, or even paper or fabric-covered cardboard, to make the background. Mount two or more pictures, cover them with clear acetate if you want, then glue a ring over the top of each photo. Make sure the raw edge, were the pantyhose was cut, is glued downward so it doesn’t show. Hang on the wall using peel-n-stick picture hangers.
Make a pencil holder for your desk by cutting a circle of cardboard a little smaller than one of the pantyhose circles. Glue the first pantyhose circle to the cardboard, then glue another and another, until the stack is as tall as you want it to be.
Use six of the pantyhose circles to make a unique Frisbee. Arrange the six circles into a large circle, placing them side-by-side, but angling them so that you can easily form a circle from them. Cut five pantyhose pieces, cloth strips or even felt pieces to be 5″ by a half-inch. Where each circle meets the next, wrap a strip of fabric around the two rings to join them. Use glue to secure. Wrap one strip around each two circles and the Frisbee will be complete. Throw and catch it just like an ordinary Frisbee. If you use fabric glue to attach the strips the Frisbee is washable.
Pantyhose and girl’s tights work great to stuff pillows or even dust around the house. Cut sections and use them to tie bows onto candles, wreaths and more. Cut the panty and feet off, braid three legs together, and use it as a dog toy. There are so many different uses for old pantyhose; now that you know all of this you’ll never throw away a pair of pantyhose again!
