With the holidays coming at us in full force, it’s time to think about decorating for Christmas…and this year, we’re going to add some flair! Whether you are ready or not, the time to put up the Christmas tree is right around the corner. What are you going to decorate it with this year? Last year’s decorations usually top the list, however why not add some style and flair to the Christmas tree with some simple holiday crafts?
Making Gorgeous Bows
One of my favorite things to add to crafts and gifts is the bow. I’m not talking about the store-bought, plastic-ribbon bows. I mean the real, hand-made, puffy, gorgeous bows. The ones that you actually go to the store and pick out the ribbon for and then design at home. The instrument that makes my bows so much easier to create is the Bowdabra. Hair bows and holidays bows and gift bows are simple to create with the Bowdabra – and once you get on a roll, it only takes moments to create a bow. So, why not give the Christmas Tree flair and decorate it with bows?
What Is Your Holiday Theme?
You choose the theme. Do you want a White Christmas or a gold one? Or, maybe you want to don the house with blue and purple, the New, Stylish Christmas Colors. Or, you might be the old fashioned and traditional green and red type of person. The patterns on the ribbon can be checkered, plaid, polka dot, solid, or striped. Regardless of which colors or patterns you are leaning toward this year, there’s no limit when it comes to decorating with bows. Mix and match the colors and patterns for even more flair.
Have you seen one of Macy’s Christmas trees decorated solely with big, puffy, colorful, fantastic looking bows? That’s my idea of Christmas with flair. In addition, you can attach bows along the railings of the stairs, on plain wreaths of pine, and to the curtains around the house. Create thoughts of peppermint by stacking some red and white towels and adding a red and white bow to the top of the pile – place it neatly on a table in the hallway near the bathroom. Tie bows to the logs of tables and chairs…the ideas are endless!
Holiday flair is just a bunch of bows away, and they’re simple to make. A few hours of winding ribbon through the Bowdabra, and your house will look like Bow City. They are easy to keep for following years, as well, so they are a “green” way of decorating, too, because they are re-usable!
Happy Holidays! (Let me know if you decorate with bows this year!)
