It’s heartbreaking watching child stars break down, get in trouble with the law, suffer eating disorders, practice self-harm, and do drugs. It’s unfortunate that this happens in the first place, but it is more upsetting when you know these stars are your child’s role models. What example does this set for your child? This trend involves Disney stars like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. But can we soon add Demi Lovato to this list? Demi Lovato removed herself from her tour with the Jonas Brothers and checked herself into rehab for ’emotional and physical’ problems she has seemingly dealt with for quite a while.
She admits to being bullied in school but luckily had the option of home schooling. It’s also been reported that Demi has suffered from eating disorders and has also lashed out at those who continually post unflattering pictures of her. She also got hit with a break up with her boyfriend Joe Jonas. She also got into a heated fight with another girl on tour with her. She is touring with the Jonas Brothers (which includes her now ex) and some reports say that the girl with whom she had an altercation with was Joe’s new girlfriend who is also touring with them. Other reports say the girl was just a dancer on tour. There are also multiple photos available in which you can see cut marks on her left wrist. Reps have stated the cuts were caused by bands that were too tight but later photos show actual scarring.
Demi Lovato was born Demetria Devonne Lovato in Dallas, Texas on August 20th, 1992. Her discography includes two albums: ‘Don’t Forget’ and ‘Here We Go Again’ from 2008 and 2009 respectively. Her filmography includes movies such as ‘Camp Rock’, ‘Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience’, ‘Princess Protection Program’, ‘Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam’, and ‘Scooby-Doo! Camp Scare’. As for television she has appeared in ‘Barney and Friends’, ‘Prison Break’, ‘As the Bell Rings’, ‘Just Jordan’, ‘Jonas Brother: Living the Dream’, ‘Studio DC: Almost Live’, ‘Disney Channel Games 2008’, ‘Disney Channel’s Totally New Year 2008’, ‘Sonny With A Chance’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’, and ‘America’s Next Top Model’.
My hope is that her checking herself into rehab will help her avoid becoming a Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan. I’m happy to see she is taking responsibility but I’m weary of what the future holds for yet another troubled Disney star.
