Desperate Housewives was full of surprises and twists and craziness once again this week, which is why we love it so. Without the extreme drama and quirky story-lines, it would not be one ounce of fun!
This week, Paul Young’s wife has finally given in to his pleas to consummate the marriage. Beth, this new wife who married him while he was still in prison, claimed she was a virgin and had been holding him at bay. After a phone call to her mother last week, who we have not seen yet, she was convinced to go ahead and sleep with him. Then Paul’s’ old cellmate arrives on their doorstep out of the blue, and in order to find out why he was there, Beth threatens the cellmate with violating his parole (by ripping her dress to look like he attacked her). The cellmate tells Beth what Paul wants to do to the neighbors, but we don’t hear that conversation. Towards the end of the show, while Beth seduced her husband Paul once again, she tells him she knows what’s going on and that she agrees with acts of vengeance which turns Paul on even more. The next morning Beth visits her mom, in prison, who we now know is Felicia Tillman, Mrs. Huber’s sister – the sister Paul was accused of murdering. And Felicia is the reason Paul went to prison.
Brie Hodge is dating Keith (a handsome Brian Austin Green) who is 17 years younger. When she gets hot flashes from menopause on a rollerblading date, she goes to a doctor who tells her she has menopause. When Brie tells the female doctor she wants to hide the symptoms because she has a young lover, the doctor is all for it and commends her. The next night, she and Keith go out to dinner to meet Keith’s parents, and wouldn’t you know, Keith’s mom is the doctor Brie saw earlier that day. The doctor, a little tipsy, tries to “out” Brie, and finally Brie can’t handle it and tells Keith she has menopause and his mom was the doctor she saw. Keith follows Brie home and tells her he does not care, if they stay together they can adopt children, he just wants to be with her. Brie tells him she has already had kids, so she does not want anymore at all. Keith is taken aback and saddened, but says they have time, and they can still just have fun.
Beautiful Gaby Solis invites her neighbor Bob over for dinner to thank him for helping her and Carlos find her biological daughter. Carlos is not thrilled because Bob is really Gaby’s friend, but at dinner, they find out that Bob is not your stereotypical gay man and likes sports and beer. He and Carlos start hanging out together a lot and going to games. Lee, Bob’s ex-boyfriend, stops by to tell Gaby that Bob is probably trying to make a move on Carlos, and when Gaby gets jealous, Carlos says he has no problem not hanging out with Bob if that makes her feel better. When Gaby goes over to borrow eggs from Bob, Bob tells her he is just lonely and looking for some friends. Since he broke up with Lee, he has not been as social. Gaby green-lights a golf trip for Bob and Carlos but then decides to bring Lee over to Bob’s house because the two are still in love with each other.
Lynette Scavo and her college friend Renee’ (Vanessa Williams, hotter than hot) start up a design firm, but Lynette needs a nanny, so Renee’ calls Susan Mayer (Terry Hatcher) to say they have a job for her. Susan rushes over thinking they want her to be part of the design team, but gets roped into being a
the nanny. Because her husband, Mike, is in Alaska trying to make money, and Susan lost her job as an art teacher at school, she needs the money. She feels awkward working for one of her best friends at a job she thinks is beneath her, but Lynette, always the wise one, assures Susan that they are still friends and she understands Susan’s situation and nothing has changed their level of friendship or respect. Susan even offers an idea to a client, which Renee’ HATED (but the client loved it), so maybe she will eventually be part of their design team.
A great episode as usual. So will Susan keep the job or try to join Lynette’s and Renee’s design team? Will Bob and Lee stay together? Will Keith leave Brie because she is too old? And what the heck is Paul Young really planning? Stay tuned!
