Episode 4.2: “Remains to Be Seen”
Rita called Dexter when he was in the middle of killing Benito Gomez, asking him to stop what he was doing immediately and go to the all-night pharmacy to get Harrison some medicine for his ear infection. As a result he hurried through the dismembering and clean-up process. While flooring it home, Dexter started dozing at the wheel, swerved off the road, and flipped his SUV.
When he came to, Dexter was being taken out of the SUV and into an ambulance. He realizes that they are going to find Benny Gomez in the back of his car, but hears nothing about it. Diagnosed with a concussion, Rita wants Dexter to stay home from work, but his anxiety over being discovered makes him insist upon going in. He figures a quiet day will allow him the opportunity to go out on a search for the body.
As luck would have it, there of course is another murder in the big city, and Dexter has to get involved. He is having a hard time focusing because he needs to go find his body bags, and his image of Harry keeps popping up to yell at him. At least he can try to blame it on the concussion. He can’t remember anything.
While Dexter searches for what he did with Benito’s body, Trinity is out stalking. He hangs out in a festival area, and is attracted to a woman he had seen walking around. Their paths cross again when her son runs into Trinity, getting ice cream all over his arm. And then again while Trinity is stalking her while walking his dog, pretending to be a neighbor.
Meanwhile, Lundy is getting more deeply involved in the Lisa Bell murder case, because he believes it to be another Trinity killing. He and Debra start chatting more about their findings and spend a lot of time together. Debra feels like Lundy is there to rekindle something with her and tries to get some closure from him so that she can maintain her relationship with Anton.
Quinn is literally in bed with the reporter, who is screwing the department by writing about a string of murders that she has dubbed “The Vacation Murders.” He makes things worse for himself when Dexter sees him pocketing cash from a crime scene, and becomes paranoid. He keeps trying to kiss up to Dexter, getting in Dexter’s way of trying to locate Benny’s body.
Lieutenant LaGuerta takes over lead of the Vacation Murders, causing a rift between her and Sergeant Batista. The two contemplate taking some time off from their secret relationship.
Rita finds out the truth about Dexter’s accident and shows up at work demanding he come home early. He smooths everything over so that he can stay, race through his work, and get out to find Benny’s body.
