Last week the colonists met Tick, an ex-marine and survivalist and invited him to join them and as we left them, a payphone was ringing with a message from VOPA (Viral Outbreak Protection Agency) who dropped them off in the first place to fend for themselves with a few supplies but left the survival skills to them. The message on the payphone tells the colonists that helicopters are being deployed to all VOPA safe zones in twenty-four hours. They are not sure what to expect, hopefully that they are leaving and being taken to a better place, so they all pack as lightly as possible. As their luck would have it, they spot a helicopter from VOPA that circles about three times over their compound with a large box hanging from it with supplies. In the circling, they became targets for anyone else who needs supplies and that means everyone within range of seeing this helicopter. The supply helicopter is a letdown for the colony because they know they are not leaving.
As the box is dropped, the colonists are attacked by six marauders. The supplies were dropped and on impact were demolished. Very little was salvaged and the intruders would not stand down. They promised them that they would leave some supplies for them after they took their share first.
Tick has been a great addition to the colony, because he is concerned with security, more than anything else. As they pick through the items that were nearly destroyed, there was a metal box that contained a hand held video device with pictures and videos of their families. The emotion level was immediately raised to laughter and tears.
The small boat is just about ready to go and they finally put it in the water and prepare to scout the area for food and a new place to stay. They decide to leave the small boat overnight to ensure that it is truly seaworthy. Then they get hustling on the big boat. Everyone is a cohesive member of the group with something to offer from their background. And Michael’s still is producing alcohol that will provide fuel for the boats.
Again more intruders are spotted, and they know that an attack is looming. Tick sets up a security force and puts several plans into action. They build weapons for protection and attack. They built a water cannon and shields in case they are attacked using scraps in a junk pile and set up the water cannon on the roof just as thirty people storm the compound.
