With Christmas right around the corner, you are probably getting your supplies ready for your Christmas Scrapbooking. If you are into digital scrapbooking, you have many options when it comes to collecting your scrapbook graphics. One of the things you can do is create your own Christmas scrapbook graphics by using free dingbats. If you have a graphic editor program, you can use dingbats to create your own scrapbook graphics for Christmas.
First, you will need to find a good site that offers dingbats for free. At the bottom of this article, you will find the site I use for my dingbats. When you find a dingbat site that you like, you can begin downloading dingbats that you think you might want to use. Sometimes when you use dingbats, you only want to use one or two out of the entire set. Then there may be a few in another set you may want to use. So, go ahead and download as many dingbats as you want. Nothing will be hurt by downloading these dingbats because they are real small in size. The only downside is it will take you a few minutes to download all the ones you want and then unzip them.
Once you have found the Christmas dingbats you want to use and have installed them, you will need to load the program you are going to use to create your Christmas graphics. Some programs you may want to try out include Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Fireworks, Photoscape, and PaintShop Pro. As long as you have some type of graphics program that will allow you to create text, you will be fine.
If you are unfamiliar with installing dingbats in Windows, let me help you. You will need to load your C:/ drive, or whatever your main drive is. Then you will need to open the windows folder. In that folder, find the fonts folder. Paste the dingbat files in the fonts folder. It is probably best to paste your dingbats in the font folder before opening your graphics program, that way the program will pick them up when you open it.
To use the dingbats to create Christmas scrapbook graphics, you will need to select your text tool and type something on your document. You can type all of the letters and numbers on your keyboard to see all of your options in the set of dingbats. After typing what you want, open the font box and change the font of the text to one of the dingbats you installed.
When you find a dingbat you want to use as a graphic, you can delete all of the others. Then you can apply effects to the dingbat, change the color of it, change the size of it, and more. When you are ready to save your Christmas graphic, you can crop it and export it, or save it to your computer.
