Pumpkin crafts are a must during the fall season and especially for Halloween. Below you will find a tutorial for a mini spider pumpkin. It is a fairly mess-free craft that you can make at Halloween parties or just for decoration. The tutorial is perfect for all ages and can be personalized to suit your tastes.
Black Acrylic Paint
Newspaper or Paper Plate
Glue Sticks (for glue gun)
2 Googly Eyes (large)
1 Craft Pipe Cleaner (orange)
8 Craft Pipe Cleaners (black)
Step One – Gently wash the mini pumpkin with water and then pat it dry with a paper towel. Make sure it is completely dry before you begin Step Two.
Step Two – Squirt a small amount of the black acrylic paint onto the paper plate or section of newspaper. Start to paint the mini pumpkin! You may need to let it dry and paint another coat or two to make sure the pumpkin dries solid.
Step Three – While you are waiting on the glue gun to warm up, begin to bend all eight of the black pipe cleaners into a zig zag shape; they are going to be the legs of the spider. You will place four pipe cleaners on the right side of the pumpkin and the other four on the left side. Next, glue them onto the back of the mini pumpkin, spreading them out form the top to the bottom. Take your time with each pipe cleaner leg to make sure they dry securely into place.
Step Four – Glue on the large googly eyes.
Step Five – Cut an inch off of the orange craft pipe cleaner and use it for a mouth. You can make a happy smile, a frown or a zig zag for a scary look. When you finish bending the piece into the desired shape, glue it underneath the googly eyes.
