Traveling with a pet, especially a dog, is much like traveling with little children. Often times you have to plan your trip around them, even if you are traveling in a RV. There are many places to park and RV but not all of them are pet friendly. Even some of the ones that are pet friendly do not allow certain breeds of dogs due to the reputation of these breeds. But, pet owners not only need to be aware of the RV parks or campgrounds that allow dogs and what breeds they allow, they will also need to know what other rules and regulations the park or campground has that they must follow. Each park or campsite will have their own set of rules and regulations so be sure to ask or look them up when considering a place to park your RV.
In the Denver, Colorado area there are at least 6 RV Parks and Campgrounds that are pet friendly. These are the Denver Meadows RV Park, Dakota Ridge RV Park, Chief Hosa Campgrounds, Chatfield State Park Campgrounds, St. Vrain State Park and Prospect RV Park.
Denver Meadows RV Park located at 2075 North Potomac Street, Aurora, Colorado, welcomes dogs with their owners who have an RV and choose to stay here. Dogs of all sizes are welcome as long as they are not Pittbull Dogs, Rottweilers or Doberman Pinschers. There is no additional charge for dogs when staying at Denver Meadows RV Park. Owners or those who are responsible for dogs staying here should be aware that dogs should be kept on a leash that is a maximum of six feet in length, they are not to be left outside unattended and the must always be cleaned up after.
Dakota Ridge RV Resort, located at 17800 West Colfax Avenue, Golden, Colorado, is another RV Resort or Park that welcomes dogs of all sizes, but also has several breeds that it can not accommodate. These breeds are Pittbull Dogs, Doberman Pinschers, Akitas, Rottwielers, Stafforshire Terriers and Chow Chows. There is a $1 per dog per night charge for Rver who choose to stay here with their dogs. Dog owners should be aware that their dogs should always be on a leash when the dog is outside their RV, they should be kept quiet and they should always be cleaned up after. Dogs can not be left unattended outside the RV and they can not be tied to any trees on the resort. Resort buildings, the playground area and the swimming pool area are also all areas that dogs are not welcome.
Chief Hosa Campground, located at 27661 Genesee Drive, Golden, Colorado is a dog friendly campground that has RV hookups. Only small dogs can stay here. They must be kept on a leash and cleaned up after. The buildings on this property are not places where dogs are allowed, but they are allowed at other places through out the park and on the trails. Dogs are also allowed in the tent and RV camping areas.
Chatfield State Park Campground, located at 11500 North Roxborough Park Road, Littleton, Colorado, is another place to camp in an RV with your dog. This state park does not have a size limit on dogs that are welcome here. Dogs that stay here with their owners must be kept on a leash when they are outside their RV or tent and the leash must be no longer than six foot in length. As with all responsible pet owners, dogs that stay here must be picked up after. Dogs are allowed throughout the park except for the swim or water-ski beaches or in the buildings owned by the park.
St. Vrain State Park Campground, located at 3525 H 119, Longmont, Colorado is also on the list of places to stay when you are traveling with your dog or dogs. This state park has no limit to the size or dog you have or the breed of the dog. Dogs that are here should always be on a leash when they are outside the RV and they should always be cleaned up after. No dogs are to be allowed on any swim or water-ski beaches or in the buildings on the park.
Prospect RV Park, located at 11600 W. 44th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado is one last place to stay in the Denver, Colorado area if you are staying in an RV and have a dog. Dogs should be on a leash when they are outside their RV but there is an open area that the pet walking area leads to that is open space and very dog friendly.
