Buying things online can be great and it can save you a lot of time and money from time to time, but there are certain things that you should never buy online due to the many complications that could occur with doing so. One such occurrence has to do with buying a headset, which when bought online could cause a whole host of problems for the buyer down the road. While it may not seem like it’s that big of a deal at the moment there are many disadvantages to buying a headset online as opposed to inside the store that may not be worth the price advantage.
So, your headset has broken and you want to look online to find a really good price on the headset you want and have it shipped to your house, right? You go ahead and order the headset for it’s very cheap price and you don’t give it a second thought being happy with the money you had saved as opposed to buying it in the store. While you may have saved a ton of money when buying it online, did you really make out in the deal? You begin to look at the warranty and realize that in order to get a replacement or have it fixed you need to send it in to the company and it could take up to two or three weeks to be fixed or replaced and sent back to you. Immediately you realize the first shortfall to buying a headset online as opposed to getting one from a store. While it may not cost you any money at all to send it in, it can take a ton of time and in that time you have no headset. Had you bought it from your store retailer you could have walked in that day with the receipt and got a replacement on the spot or store credit.
The next disadvantage you will begin to notice is the risk you run if the headset comes to you damaged. Instead of walking in the store and getting one at a higher price you decided to buy one online to save some money and it arrives to you broken. This takes a lot of time out of your use of the headset and you haven’t even had the joy of using it yet. I’m not saying in any way that this happens a lot, but when it does happen it makes you wish you had bought it in store. Had you bought it in store and this occurred you could have taken it right back and gotten a new one. Since you bought your headset online you have to then send it back and wait even longer. This is one reason why the little bit on money you could save isn’t worth it in the long run.
The last reason that you should avoid buying a headset online is the tried and true not getting what you paid for. What I mean is that the company could claim and reviews could claim how great the headset is, but when you get it, it’s not as cracked up as it seemed to be. As a result you have to then ship it back and ask for a refund wasting time and money. Had you bought it in store you could have gotten your money back the same day and tried a different headset. Even if the headset cost you a little extra, with an extended warranty you could have your headset outlive its production and as a result under most warranties stores are required to give you store credit for the full amount of the headset you bought. As a result you could then pick up a more recent headset and do so with your store credit. If you buy a headset online and it is discontinued, you are not always guaranteed repayment or credit for it. For these reasons a headset is one of those things that is better bought from a store as opposed to online in the long run.
