During this exciting time when the San Francisco Giants are in the World Series, it is important to remember the team’s roots. For the first two years that the team arrived from New York, they played in the old Seals Stadium, currently 16th and Bryant.
Across the street from the stadium, which was torn down in 1959, still sits a sports bar called Double Play. I don’t how long they have been around, but it might be 100 years according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The internet was first discovered in the 1960’s, but not used widely by consumers until the 1990’s. Therefore, it is curious to see this sign at Double Play. It refers to On Deck at Seals Stadium while displaying an Internet address, www.thedoubleplay.com. Their actually internet address is www.doubleplaysf.com. I wonder what happened here. Nevertheless, it’s a great sports bar.
