The Palo Alto Partners in Education (PiE) is holding a double your donation to PiE fundraiser drive that runs through November 19. Each dollar donated to PiE will be matched until the total reaches $275,00, or until November 19, whichever comes first. The matching donation funds came from the Participation Challenge Grant, PiE’s Advisory Council, and several other donors.
PiE is a nonprofit organization that supports educational programs in 18 schools in Palo Alto. Money raised by PiE goes directly to Palo Alto schools to support programs that are no longer supported by the state’s education budget, such as science, art, and classroom aides.
At Palo Alto’s elementary schools, funds from PiE provide classroom aides, supplemental science lessons, and the Spectra Art program. At Palo Alto’s three middle schools, PiE funds a variety of electives (depending on the school) such as Chorus, creative writing, public speaking, and accelerated industrial tech class. There are also more counselors are at the middle schools, thanks to funds from PiE. And at the two high schools, PiE funding allowed for more counselors at each high school, provided Gunn High School with new engineering curriculum, and paid for an aide in Palo Alto High School’s biotechnology class.
PiE is accepting donations of any amount at papie.org/donate or parents can return the PiE donation envelopes that were sent home with students to the main office of their child’s school.
